Membership at All Souls

All Souls Fellowship Membership Seminars are a chance for visitors and regular attenders to find out more about our church. The seminars are a time to hear why we do what we do, how All Souls is structured, and what we expect of our members. They are also a chance to ask questions!

Our next Membership Seminar will be Spring, 2017 - check back soon for dates and times.

Come learn more about the vision, values and community of our church. While attendance at all sessions IS required to join ASF, attending the seminars does NOT obligate you to join. You will be given information to make an informed decision.

Below are the materials that we go over in the class as well as the Member Application:

To be a member of a church is to make a public promise to live according to biblical teachings and to support the mission and ministry of the church. In the Bible, this is called a covenant. Biblically speaking, such covenants are the basis for all of society. Marriage and citizenship, for example, are relationships of accountability.

THE BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP:

Of course, many of the benefits of a vital church are available to anyone who attends. But there is a rationale for membership. Briefly, Members have the benefit of accountability to the elders, the spiritual leaders, (Hebrews 13:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13) authority to shape the ministry of the church, the benefit of having their children baptized, and leadership opportunities.

If you decide to be involved with All Souls without membership, there will be no pressure to join. Do not join unless you are ready to be committed. However, we do believe that church membership is a biblical concept and, if All Souls is to be your “home” church, we hope that you will prayerfully consider becoming a member.

Should you choose to become a member, you would be expected to:

  • Profess the exclusive lordship of Christ as your Savior.
  • To the best of your ability, live a live of Biblical purity and holiness, seeking to bring honor to Christ.
  • Live a live of repentance and faith (because none of us do #2 perfectly!).
  • Actively use your spiritual gifts in service to the church and to our city.
  • Intentionally and faithfully share your resources according to the Biblical guidelines of the tithe.
  • Promise to uphold the purity and peace of the church by seeking to apply the truth and grace of Christ in every facet of your life.

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER:

  • Attend all parts of the upcoming membership seminars or classes.
  • Fill in Membership Paperwork (Membership Application & Spiritual Gifts Inventory.)
  • Complete interview with an elder or ASF staff member (these are set up during the Membership Seminar or Classes).

and then…

  • Take vows before the congregation during one of the worship services. This short ceremony is usually scheduled during the Membership Seminar or Classes, based on a Sunday which works best with the church calendar and for all of the candidates.
