A Story of Grace

“After our ASF Women’s Winter Retreat last January, I was talking to the manager of the resort where we stayed, checking in and wrapping up all the final details from the weekend. While we were talking, the manager mentioned how much he and the rest of the staff enjoyed having our group visit. I was sure that this was something he just said to all guests, but he repeatedly told me that multiple staff members had come up to him during our stay to tell him how kind, generous, and gracious our group was.

Despite some less-than-ideal situations over the course of the weekend (the internet was down upon our arrival which made check-in more complicated and the dinner service was extremely slow which lead to us waiting two hours to get our food), the women of our church responded with grace and patience. He told me that our group radiated warmth and kindness to every person who worked there, and at the end of the weekend, the staff said they wished that all of their groups were as amazing, easy-going, and gracious as our group.

I’m so grateful to be a part of a community where grace is part of the air we breathe. No one told the women on the retreat to act a certain way; they certainly would have been justified in being impatient or frustrated, especially on a weekend that was supposed to be relaxing and stress-free. But so many of them responded with grace and kindness naturally, and the staff of the resort really noticed.”
